The Greenville Jazz Collective is a non-profit organization started in 2012 by highly respected members of the jazz community in Greenville, SC. Through education outreach in the community and regular performance in an environment that is best suited for listening, the mission of the GJC is to create a greater awareness and appreciation for jazz music and history in the Upstate for generations to come.
The first GJC ensemble, the musicians of the Contemporary Group are amongst the most accomplished jazz musicians in Greenville whose guest artists are recognized nationally and internationally. Dedicated primarily to playing the music of its members and composers from the region, the members play together in a variety of musical settings.

Mark Rapp is a distinguished trumpeter, composer, arranger, didgeridoo player, recording and touring artist and has performed with such distinct artists from Branford Marsalis to country music star Darius Rucker. Rapp has released 7 diverse recordings, and is featured on the closing track of Disney’s “Everybody Wants to be a Cat” CD. app’s celebrated 2009 debut release “Token Tales” (Paved Earth Music), earned him a spot as one of the “Top 25 Emerging Trumpeters” in Downbeat Magazine.
