saxophoneAbout
She was from the North. He was from the South. He loved The Beatles. She loved Bossa Nova. They met in college, wrote a song together, and the rest is history.
Native Brazilian, Orlando Haddad, grew up in Brazil in the 1960s, when both Bossa Nova and the British Invasion were at their peak. Learning to sing The Beatles taught him English. Patricia King, who grew up in the United States, learned Brazilian Portuguese from listening to Sergio Mendes and singing Bossa Nova.
Throughout their career Minas has been merging opposites, north and south, jazz and samba, male and female, yin and yang. Beatles in Bossa Nova offers exactly that - British/American music tinged with Tropicalism, Brazilian music influenced by rock. Blackbird, Come Together, Day Tripper, Fool on the Hill, Eleanor Rigby, She Loves You, In My Life, Something, Within Without You, With A Little Help from my Friends, Here Comes the Sun, Get Back, and more, come to life in the form of Bossa Nova, Samba, Afochê, Baião, Partido Alto, Samba Reggae, Frevo, etc....
