About

This year’s ¡Fiesta de Jazz! is a day-long series comprised of musical performances and workshops, where students from both high school and college levels, along with faculty and professional musicians, have an opportunity to connect, share and celebrate jazz music. The Afro Peruvian Jazz Orchestra, co-founded by El Camino College Alumnus Anibal Seminario, and saxophonist Lorenzo Ferrero, will be our Featured Artist this year.

The Festival begins at 3:00pm with a concert given by ECC’s Concert Jazz Band, our flagship jazz big band. At 4:00 p.m., ECC Applied Music Faculty members Larry Steen (bass) and Mark Massey (piano), will be giving a clinic about their careers as rhythm section musicians. At 5:00 p.m., Anibal Seminario and Lorenzo Ferrero will invite us to discover Afro Peruvian rhythm and jazz in an hour-long clinic session. ...
